Day of the Word

Our Story

Minnette and Kris met in 2020.

They were both ambitious teachers who were always in search of new and innovative ways to get results for their students. Minnette’s first teaching job was at a primary school in her home country, South Africa. Her first global English teaching job was located in South Africa where she was helping non-English speaking adults, living all over the world, learn English and find their true potentials via the internet. Minnette started working with Kris at EE in March of 2020 and got to teach English to a lot of non-native speakers.

Minnette already had a few years of experience in English teaching and she was really passionate about helping others empower themselves as they learned English. One thing Kris and Minnette had in common was that they both believed that the traditional way of teaching was extremely limiting for both the student and the teacher. They knew that one of the best ways to learn how to speak English is when a student can build their vocabulary daily.

Minnette started with the design of the website to help students who had no one to practice English with, to learn one English word per day which could help strengthen and broaden their vocabulary.

Minnette and Kris then started to work together on ways to improve the website and make it fun for non-English learners to learn one English word per day and some ways that the word can be used in daily conversation. They wanted to create a website specifically for non-natives which was accessible and flexible to everyone around the World. They wanted a website that got their users guaranteed results and helped them thrive in life as they improved their English.

And they found it.

But there was one more thing that was part of their mission. They wanted this website to be accessible for any person anywhere, including the ones living in not so rich countries. So, their goal was to make it affordable. They wanted everyone to have the opportunity of learning a new word and ways to use the word daily wherever they wanted, whenever they wanted.

That's when they created Day of the word
In the website Day of the word, any person can build their vocabulary with confidence. People can even participate in a live lesson or watch recorded lessons on one of the website's sister platforms when they have free time.

We wanted everyone to have the chance to learn English as they express themselves in topics they care about, in a community of eager to learn people from around the world and with amazing professional English teachers.

You now have the opportunity to work with Minnette and Kris and be a part of something bigger when you join the English-Everyday team.

We look forward to having you here with us.
